Prior to being elected to the City Commission in 2013, she served on a number of City Boards including the Planning & Zoning Board for eight years and the Recreation Advisory Board, where she spearheaded the redevelopment of the Coral Gables Youth Center.
Pat took her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1970 from Barry College and worked full time at New York University Medical Center and later at Jackson Memorial Hospital until her first child was born.
During the time her children were of school age, Pat was an officer or board member of their PTA’s and also served on school board advisory panels.
As her children grew up, Pat went back to graduate school at FIU and earned a Master of Public Administration degree in December 1999. She worked as an aide to County Commissioner Jimmy Morales doing policy analysis and drafting legislation from 1999
until he left office in 2004.
Pat continues to serve on the Dean’s Advisory Board of FIU College of Arts, Sciences and Education.
